2. Overview of Data Processing

This website collects and processes personal data only to the extent necessary. The following overview shows the types of data processed and the purposes of processing:

  • Server log files: IP address, browser type, operating system, referrer URL, access time
  • Contact data: Name, email address, message (when contacting us by email or through the contact form)
  • Appointment booking: Name, email address, appointment details

3. Hosting

This website is hosted by Vercel.

Provider: Vercel Inc., 340 S Lemon Ave #4133, Walnut, CA 91789, USA

When you visit this website, technical information is automatically stored in server log files that your browser transmits automatically:

  • IP address of the requesting computer
  • Date and time of access
  • Name and URL of the accessed file
  • Website from which access was made (referrer URL)
  • Browser used and, if applicable, the operating system

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure and efficient website provision).

4. Fonts

This website uses the fonts DM Sans, Fraunces, Syne and IBM Plex Sans, and a reduced copy of DejaVu Sans Mono for the release notes file. Your browser loads them directly from this website (see Section 3). No connection to Google or any other third party is made for the fonts.

5. Appointment Booking (Cal.com)

For appointment booking, we use the Cal.com service. When you book through our booking link, you enter your details directly on Cal.com's booking page.

Provider: Cal.com, Inc., 2261 Market Street #4382, San Francisco, CA 94114, USA

When booking an appointment, the following data is processed:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • The time you choose (date and time)
  • Your answers to questions in the booking form, if you give any

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (steps taken at your request prior to entering into a contract).

Data processing agreement: We have concluded a data processing agreement with Cal.com under Art. 28 GDPR. It also contains the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR) as a further basis for the transfer to the USA.

Processing in the USA: According to Cal.com, booking data is processed in the United States. Cal.com uses subprocessors for this, and its list gives the location United States for all of them, including the services for the booking database, for sending booking confirmations and reminders, and for an analytics tool with access to booking records. Cal.com, Inc. is listed as an active participant in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (as of October 2026). The transfer to the USA is therefore based on the European Commission's adequacy decision of 10 July 2023 for this framework (Art. 45 GDPR).

Retention period: According to Cal.com, booking data is kept while our Cal.com account is active. After the account is closed and a period for exporting the data has passed, it is deleted.

Cookies on the booking page: According to Cal.com, it uses cookies for login, preferences and security, and no third-party advertising cookies.

6. Contact via Email

If you contact us by email, your details including the contact data you provide will be stored for the purpose of processing the inquiry and in case of follow-up questions.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (contract initiation) or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering inquiries).

Mailbox (Google Workspace): The mailbox contact@rickiwalter.com runs on Google Workspace. Google stores all email sent to us there, including the messages from the contact form (see Section 7).

Provider: Google Cloud EMEA Limited, 70 Sir John Rogerson’s Quay, Dublin 2, Ireland

We use Google as a processor under Google's data processing terms (Art. 28 GDPR). Data may be transferred to the USA in the process. Such transfers are based on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR). More information: Google's data processing terms

Retention period: Your data will be deleted as soon as they are no longer required for the purpose of their collection, unless statutory retention periods require us to keep them longer.

7. Contact Form

If you use the contact form, we process the details you enter: your name, your email address, your message and your confirmation that you have read this notice. Purpose: answering your request.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if your request is aimed at concluding a contract; otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering inquiries).

Email delivery (Resend): The form passes your details through a server function at our host Vercel (see Section 3) to the email service Resend, which sends them to our mailbox as an email.

Provider: Plus Five Five, Inc. (trading as Resend), 2261 Market Street #5039, San Francisco, CA 94114, USA

We use Resend as a processor under a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR). Resend processes at least the email metadata, the email addresses and the message content. Resend stores account data, including email metadata and logs, in the United States. The transfer to the USA is based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses contained in that agreement (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR). Resend is also listed as an active participant in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (as of October 2026). While our account is active, Resend keeps email and log data for 30 days. Retention period: Your message is kept in the mailbox of contact@rickiwalter.com (Google Workspace, see Section 6) until your request has been dealt with and no longer than needed, unless statutory retention periods require us to keep it longer.

Right to object: Where the processing is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, you can object to it at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation (see Section 10). Using the form is voluntary; you can also write to us by email.

8. Free Download (Guide PDF)

The free guide is offered as a direct download. It does not require an email address or any other personal data. Beyond the server log files described in Section 3 (Hosting), no data is collected or stored in connection with the download. We do not operate a newsletter.

9. Cookies

This website does not use cookies.

10. Your Rights as a Data Subject

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights:

You have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to the processing of your data based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

11. Right to Lodge a Complaint

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority about the processing of your personal data (Art. 77 GDPR).
